Chair of governing body, honorary treasurer. Member of all sub-committees

"In 2003, with my eldest daughter at the school and her two sisters hoping to follow, I answered a request to become Treasurer of the Governors' Fund. That involvement led to me being appointed as a Foundation Governor, shortly after.

With a professional background in finance, I first joined the Finance & Buildings sub-committee, although as Chair, I now sit on all the committees and work with them as they tackle a wide range of work that spans every aspect of school life.

The commitment from all parts of our school community to our children is genuinely inspiring and makes the role of governor immensely rewarding".

"I was appointed as a Foundation Governor in 2007 to represent St. John's parish. At the time of appointment I had 3 daughters at the school, although 2 of them have since moved on to St.Philomena's Catholic High School. I am a solicitor by profession.

I have found the role of governor to be both stimulating and rewarding; I have gained a a deeper understanding of how the school operates to ensure the best for all the children in its care. I am proud to hold this position and happy to give my time and expertise to the work of the governing body".

"I have multiple connections with St. Anne's; my 3 children - now adults - were all educated here and my wife taught at the school for many years.

I am the longest serving of the present governors, and have worked with 3 headteachers and 4 Chairs of Governors. My professional background as a schools' inspector has helped me in my  role and I currently chair the Curriculum and Staffing committee.

Education has always been of passionate interest to me and I am both pleased and proud to be associated with a school which offers a very special experience for all its children and their parents."

"Having retired from my profession as a mechanical/electrical engineeer, I was appointed as a foundation governor in 2005.

The aim of the F & B committee is to create the best possible environment, buildings and equipment to help children achieve their potential. This is not just about their academic potential, important though that is,  but about giving them the foundations and well rounded education to become good citizens of the future, true to their Catholic faith."

"I was appointed as parent governor in October 2009; I have a daughter in year 4  and a son, now at secondary school, who has many happy memories of his  7 years at St. Anne's .

I most recently worked for a conference and training organiser within the oil industry and prior to that worked in project management in the health service.

Being only recently appointed as a governor I am still finding my feet, but have quickly become involved in 3 different areas of work and expect to be very busy over the next 4 years."

" My family has close links with St. Anne's school; my 3 children all attended the school and 2 of my grandchildren are current pupils.

I was a teacher at the school during the 1980s before continuing my career as Deputy Head at St. Peter's , Leatherhead and finally serving for 11 years as Head at St. Joseph's Catholic Primary in Redhill, during which time I also served the Diocese as an Inspector.

I am now in  my second term as foundation governor."

"I work for an international company and am responsible for business in Europe with a major automotive electronics supplier. My work involves travel to many countries; I have knowledge of different cultures and traditions.

In my spare time I help with the design, build and stage management of shows for local theatre companies, particularly the Carshalton Pantomime Company which brings together children of all ages to perform in aid of children's charities.

I have 2 sons at St. Anne's; it has been a joy to observe both their enthusiasm for attending school and the way in which the school encourages their learning and development."

R.E. Pastoral and spiritual committee

I am a member of the international religious congregation of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God. The major part of my life has been spent in primary education, including re-training to teach severely handicapped children.

Since retiring I have focused my ministry mainly on different forms of Chaplaincy and am currently ministering in University Chaplaincy.

The development of young people's spiritual, emotional and educational lives is very important to me. I feel well endowed from my theological background and training, as well as from the life skills I have acquired over the years, to support St. Anne's school community in my role as a governor, representing my religious congregation."

"I run a digital communications  consultancy with major international clients.

As a foundation governor and a parent of a child in KS1, I have a deep interest in the school, wanting to see it deliver the best education for all its pupils.

I am the lead governor for both the safeguarding policy (ensuring children are safe and feel confident in making the most of the opportunities proviced) and the communications group which is working to help raise the school's profile through different media.

It is a pleasure to be able to visit the school during the day and see it in full flow."

"I am part of the management team of a media communications planning and buying company.

I am in my second 4 year term as parent governor; all 4 of my children are either at the school or are former pupils.

My main input is with the finance and buildings committee and through this role I feel I am able to give something back to the school. My eyes  have been opened to the work that Chris Donovan and his team do every day to provide the best education for our children; many of us don't see the huge amount of organisation and planning that goes into running the school and it is important that we don't take this for granted."

* Foundation governors are nominated by the Diocese (apart from Sr Mary, who is nominated by the Congregation of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God); these governors will always form the majority of the governing body. One governor is nominated by the local authority. Parent and staff governors are elected by the parents and staff respectively. All governors serve a term in office of four years.
