| Maypole Dancing |
|
On Saturday 2 May we did the Maypole at the Banstead May Fayre. We started with a parade down Banstead High Street. The girls wore blue ribbons in our hair and if you were a solo dancer you would wear a piece of ribbon on your pocket. We had to meet at the United Reformed Church and lead off into the High Street. I was a bit nervous walking down the High Street as there were lots of people looking at us, but it was fun. When we got into the May Fayre we all sat down on some benches. Then the Mayor made a few announcements before Banstead Infants did their country dancing. Their performance was good and it was funny when the teachers started dancing as well. Next it was our turn to do the Maypole. I was nervous but luckily I wasn’t in the first dance so I wasn’t that scared. Then it was the twister dance and I was doing the solo dance and I thought it went really well. Then it was the spiders web and that one was my favourite. After that dance it was the very last dance and it was over. I was a bit upset that it was over, but it was great fun.
