Egyptian Learning Journey Celebration |
|
During the Autumn term, Year 6 children experienced a learning journey through Ancient Egypt, which spanned many areas of the curriculum, including geography, English, science and art.
At the end of the journey children invited their parents to attend a special celebration so they could share all that they had learned.
The celebration included:
- Powerpoint presentations, designed and expertly delivered by the children using the interactive whiteboard and microphone and explaining all the different areas they had been involved with, and how and what they had learned.
- An art gallery displaying all the children's beautiful paintings of Egyptian people, Gods and Godesses, just as they would have appeared on tombs.
- An opportunity for parents to sample some fine Egyptian flatbread which had been hand-made by the children (as part of their learning about micro-organisms and the effects of yeast), all washed down with fresh mint tea.

This is what the children said about the event:
"It was fun because we got to show our parents our work. It was also challenging because we had to make our own presentations" (Darcy)
"It was really exciting because we got to show our learning in a really fun way" (Sophie)
And from the parents:
"It was great to see every child equally involved. A brilliant day!"
"What a fantastic way to share our child's learning; you can see how proud they are of their work - and rightly so!"
